Turia Pitt on doing the impossible

A decade ago, Turia Pitt was trapped by an out-of-control grassfire during an ultra-marathon in the Kimberly, Western Australia.

She received burns to 65% of her body, spent six months in gruelling rehabilitation, and was told she’d never run again.

But she is not one to take no for an answer.

She has since crossed the finish line at the Ironman World Championships, written four bestselling books, coached more than 40,000 people in her online programs, completed the Kokoda Trek, helped raise more than $1 million for charity, and had two sons with her partner Michael.

In her National Press Club debut presented by Women in Media, Pitt shares her thoughts on how having vulnerability in the way we tell our stories can lead to social and political change.
