Support for Regional, Rural and Remote Women in Media to Attend the 2024 National Conference

Women in Media Financial Support

The Opportunity

With the generous support of Women NSW and thanks to the Hon. Jodie Harrison, Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Women in Media will support 10 women from regional, rural and remote NSW to attend and fully participate in the 2024 National Conference.

Women living and working in regional and remote areas of NSW are equally - if not more - deserving of support and it is critical they too can access this network and opportunity. Travel, accommodation, per diems, childcare if needed, and a Conference ticket costs will be covered.

"Women working in media outside of major centres play such an essential role in their communities, ensuring we all benefit from a vibrant media sector which reaches across the country. Often working in very small teams or even alone, these women provide invaluable perspectives in telling stories which wouldn’t otherwise be told. The opportunity to be part of Women in Media's National Conference will provide a much-needed boost professionally and psychologically.”

LJ Loch and Dominique Spanos, Women in Media NSW Co-Convenors

About the National Conference

The annual National Conference is the largest gathering of women media professionals in the country.

This annual gathering of 450+ women in media is known for its inclusivity, high calibre speakers, honest discussion, and new ideas. We bring women together to challenge thinking, build relationships, and tackle the tough career and personal questions we all ask ourselves.

The event convenes an audience who cover the spectrum of career progression, from early-career emerging talent, to mid-career practitioners and managers, to senior leaders and c-suite executives.

Past Women in Media National Conferences have featured distinguished speakers such as former Prime Minister Julia Gillard AC, media luminary Ita Buttrose AC OBE, Australian of the Year Taryn Brumfitt, Golden Globe-winning producer Bruna Papandrea, journalists including Leigh Sales, Natalie Barr, Sandra Sully, and Sarah Abo, plus producers, academics, political figures, technology experts and entrepreneurs who are all pushing the boundaries of our industry.

Applicants must be available to attend the whole-day Conference in Sydney on Friday 9th August 2024.

Please complete the Expression of Interest form by Wednesday 17th July 5.00pm
