Queensland women can apply now for the connectors program

The national conference creates a unique opportunity to make personal and professional connections that last long after delegates leave the Gold Coast.

Over two days at Bond University, the conference brings together media women ranging from new starters to industry veterans.

“[It’s] two days of connecting and sharing stories with other women in the media at the conference,” said Harriet Tatham who was part of the 2019 Connectors Program.

She worked in six regional Queensland bureaus for the ABC and is now the social media producer for Four Corners.

“It’s entertaining but also highly valuable in terms of picking up new skills and meeting people from other news organisations.

“I think it’s great for networking too! I bet some people will get jobs out of the weekend.”

The Connectors Program is back for the 2022 national conference, with eight free passes on offer.

In sponsoring these tickets, the Queensland Government is keen to help women embarking on their careers in regional and rural media around the state to attend the national conference.

The aim is to support media women from diverse backgrounds and communities to build their network and hear from academic and industry leaders.

The program is open to Queensland women working in regional, rural, and remote media, which excludes Brisbane and Gold Coast metropolitan areas.

Applications open on Monday, June 20 and close on Friday, July 15, 2022.
