Heartbroken over the loss of the remarkable Caroline Jones

We are completely heartbroken and utterly devastated. Caroline Jones AO was one of the most extraordinary people you could ever meet and we always felt privileged to have her as our patron.

Australians know what an enormous impact Caroline had on the country as a ground-breaking journalist and first female reporter for This Day Tonight in the 1960s and first female host of Four Corners in the 1970s.

She was a trailblazer for generations of women working in media and a fierce advocate for rural and regional journalists.

However above and beyond her stellar career, Caroline was an exceptional human being – she was warm, kind and generous with everyone she met.

She gave her time generously to so many people and causes, and we were blessed to be one of them.

Caroline was humble, hard-working and full of integrity.

Poise, grace, professionalism: Remembering Caroline Jones — ABC News (@abcnews) May 20, 2022

It was an absolute privilege to know and work with her, and she was an outstanding role model.

As our patron for many years, Caroline’s support for all women working in media – and the industry in general – was beyond compare.

She was particularly passionate about helping young women working across rural and regional Australia and would personally keep in contact throughout their career journeys.

Caroline’s favourite quote was: “There’s a special place in heaven for women who help other women” and she fully lived by that creed and encouraged others to lift each other up with kindness.

She was the perfect role model.

We are profoundly saddened Australia has lost such a legend.
