FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why have you made changes to the old mentoring program?
We asked for your feedback on our previous mentoring programs. You told us that you wanted a mentoring program with more structure, clearer boundaries, more training opportunities and improved matching. We listened to that feedback – and now it’s time to act.
Who is Brancher and why are you using their platform for mentoring?
We are excited to announce that we are partnering again with Brancher, an evidence based mentoring platform that connects compatible mentees and mentors and provides them with support throughout their mentoring journey.
Who will I be matched with?
Brancher’s evidence-based matching algorithm means you can expect to be matched with someone who will stretch and challenge you – and help you realise your potential.
Brancher’s matching algorithm takes into account your career goals, interests, industry and importantly, your personal preferences and attributes through a confidential personality and values assessment.
What does the program involve?
It is a structured program designed for all women working in media – regardless of whether you are in journalism and media to public relations and corporate affairs.
The program involves meeting a minimum of once per month with your mentee/mentor and completing five online training modules (each less than 20 minutes).
What is the time commitment?
We encourage you to meet with your mentoring partner once a month, which can be done online, The total time commitment per month may be one to three hours depending on the relationship.
Is there a cost?
The program is free for Women in Media members, but there are only limited spots available in each state and territory.
How will you assess applications?
Applications will be assessed on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, what you want to get out of the program and whether we can find you a suitable mentoring match.
Why should I sign up as a mentee?
Research shows that mentees often experience increased job satisfaction, improved confidence, reduced strain – a significant predictor of burnout – and improved career outcomes including promotions and higher pay.
