Dear Women in Media,

Another busy year, with a successful national conference held and Kym Middleton appointed as inaugural General Manager.

Women in Media will approach 2024 with big plans and high hopes, but we’d like to take a moment to thank you all for your active interest and participation in 2023 in supporting your fellow media women.

You are one of 6,400 nationwide members who work in all facets of the media including journalism, communications, production, public relations, advertising, marketing, publishing and digital media.

There has been an amazing 103% growth in our membership YOY, and a 116% increase in media coverage of our activities this year. It included coverage of important annual initiatives including the Women in Media Industry Insight Report and Women in Media Gender Scorecard, which have helped amplify the voices of women in Media.

Our social media engagement across platforms grew by 23%, while attendance at our Women in Media National Conference increased by 26%. Held for the first time in Sydney, our conference hosted 410 delegates, and was the largest gathering of professional women from across the media industry this year.

As co-chairs, we are very grateful to our board members, employees, and our hardworking State and Territory committees around Australia. We’d also like to thank our generous sponsors and specialists who have donated their valuable time and expertise. Thank you everyone.

We all know there is work ahead in 2024 to increase gender equality, extend leadership and economic participation opportunities for women, and build a safer, more respectful culture in Australian workplaces.

But first, we wish you a safe, pleasurable and well-earned holiday break!

Anita Jacoby AM and Victoria Laurie
