No doubt like all of you, we have been carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation.
In the wake of the hard border closure in Queensland and the NSW premier describing the situation as a “national emergency”, we have made the extremely difficult decision to postpone the Women in Media National Conference until delegates can travel and attend with confidence.
Creating opportunities for women to connect and equip, elevate and empower each other is at the core of everything we do at WiM.
While planning for the national conference, we have placed the utmost importance on organising a safe event that attracts as many delegates as possible from around the country.
Women who have already bought tickets have understandably indicated they are becoming increasingly nervous about attending and returning to their states and territories with about half of the country now in lockdown.
Given the conference is only seven weeks away, we do not want to add stress and anxiety in an already uncertain environment.
We want to sincerely thank everyone for their support, open discussions and encouragement.
As we have been repeatedly reminded, great things happen when the community comes together and connects at the Women in Media National Conference.
For this reason, we fully intend to host the event at the earliest opportunity.
We will be working hard to finalise the details and will share more information about our plans as soon as possible.
If you have already secured a ticket, current registrations will automatically be applied to the rescheduled event. If the new date is not suitable, ticket holders can request a refund.
While we were mindful that the COVID-19 situation could change and that may affect our plans, we are still heartbroken because it feels like we need the warmth and connection – which has been a hallmark of the conference – more than ever.
We know this is a very challenging time for everyone. We especially send our thoughts to all of you in lockdown.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Until then, stay safe and healthy.
