Women in Media Hub - Moderation Guidelines
Welcome to the Women in Media Hub (the Hub)! We provide a safe, supportive and empowering space for women professionals in the media industry to connect, collaborate and share experiences. To maintain a positive and constructive environment, we have established the following Moderation Guidelines. By reading, posting and participating in the Hub, you agree to read the Moderation Guidelines and comply with them:
1. Respectful and Inclusive Communication

Respect and be tolerant of fellow members' opinions, viewpoints, experiences and identities.

Avoid discriminatory, offensive, inflammatory, abusive or harassing language and behaviour.

Foster a culture of inclusion and diversity by celebrating the unique perspectives of women in media.

Treat fellow members as you would treat them in real life, which means behaving with common decency, common sense, courtesy and respect.
2. Relevant and Insightful Content

Keep discussions relevant to topics related to media, journalism, communications, and related fields.

Share informative, educational and engaging content, including industry insights, career tips, and professional opportunities.

Ensure the content you post is accurate and, if you do make a mistake, correct it promptly.

Do not post content or links that purely promote or advertise businesses, services or products. Promotional links will be removed.
3. Professionalism and Collaboration

Foster a culture of professionalism and collaboration.

Encourage constructive feedback and positive interactions among members.

Engage actively in discussions, share resources and collaborate on projects or initiatives with a willingness to learn from others.

Never use someone else's work as if it was your own.
4. Safe Networking and Mentorship

Use the Hub as a platform for networking and mentorship.

Offer support and guidance to fellow members.

Encourage and facilitate networking and mentorship opportunities to advance personal and career development.
5. Job Board Guidelines

Utilise the jobs board respectfully and responsibly.

Ensure job postings are relevant to the media industry and comply with all legal requirements.

Report any suspicious or inappropriate job postings to the moderators.
6. Confidentiality and Privacy

Respect the privacy of fellow members.

Do not share personal or confidential information about a third party without the person's express consent.

Avoid discussing confidential or proprietary information related to employers or organisations.
When sharing information about yourself, remember that anyone in the Hub can read the information posted.

7. Compliance with Laws and Policies

Adhere to all applicable laws, including defamation, contempt of court and statutory restrictions on publication, the Australian Consumer Law and intellectual property laws.

Do not post or link to any information that is abusive, threatening, obscene, defamatory, misleading or deceptive, or otherwise objectionable or offensive.

Do not post third party material in the Hub without first obtaining the rights to do so.

Do not use or reproduce copyright material owned by Women in Media or a fellow member outside of the Hub without first obtaining the rights to do so.
8. Constructive Feedback and Support

Offer constructive feedback and support to fellow members. Help each other grow personally and professionally.

Engage in respectful debates and discussions while maintaining a positive tone.

Do not personally attack or degrade fellow members.
9. Moderation and Reporting

Our moderators will monitor the Hub to ensure compliance with the Moderation Guidelines.

Report any inappropriate behaviour or content to the moderators promptly.

10. Enforcement of the Moderation Guidelines

Violations of the Moderation Guidelines may result in content removal, warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the Hub, depending on the severity and frequency of the breach.

Moderators will exercise discretion in enforcing the Moderation Guidelines and may provide explanations or warnings when necessary (but are under no obligation to do so).

Moderators have the final decision on what is and isn’t acceptable use of the Hub.

Women in Media reserves the right to suspend a member's access to the Hub indefinitely in the event of a serious breach.
11. Changes to the Moderation Guidelines
These Moderation Guidelines may be updated at any time by the moderators of the Hub. Any updates and the new version of the Moderation Guidelines will be posted on the Women in Media website and in the Hub.
