The Women in Media Fiji Mentoring Project is an exclusive mentoring program teamed with online training to empower women in Fiji’s media to build their careers.

Mentoring plays a vital role in empowering and advancing women in media by offering guidance, skill-building opportunities, and a support system to help navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of the industry.

Women in Media Fiji Mentoring Project:

The Project invites women working in mainstream media, to participate in a program tailored specifically to their needs to support and advance their careers by expertly matching mentees of all career levels to an experienced mentor.

Why get involved?

  • Mentees further develop their skills and benefit from an experienced mentor’s knowledge, guidance and insights.

  • Mentors get the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to someone’s career by sharing their skills and experience. Mentors also become better leaders and communicators as they guide and help their mentee.

What’s involved?

  • Over the 6-month program, it is advisable for Mentees and Mentors to meet once a month, for 1-hour.

  • You will need access to a laptop/computer with a camera and a reliable internet connection.

  • The program is free, but there are limited spots available.

Who can apply?

  • If you are applying as a Mentee, you must be a Fiji Media Association (FMA) member with full-time employment in a mainstream media organisation.

  • Mentors do not need to be members of FMA and can be based anywhere in the Indo-Pacific region.

  • We want to build a bank of mentors for future mentoring - so if you have more than 5-years experience in the industry, we encourage you to sign up as a mentor. This means we’ll have a great group of mentors going into the future, and you may not have to be a mentor every year. We’ll be aiming to only make strong matches.
