In keeping with the 2019 national conference’s aim to equip, elevate, and empower, Women in Media launched the ‘Connector’ program. It provides a free pass to the two-day conference and up to $1000 to help cover flight and accommodation costs.
Women in Media is thrilled with the number and quality of the applications, which made it extremely difficult to select the recipients in each state and territory.
Queensland: Marian Faa from ABC Cairns.
Northern Territory: Roxanne Fitzgerald who works as a reporter for the Katherine Times – one of the most remote newsrooms in the country.
New South Wales: Harriet Tatham from the ABC who spent her first four years working in small towns before landing in Sydney in 2018.
Victoria: Rachael McGuirk who works for Overland magazine, is a non-fiction writer, and publicist for other writers and their work.
South Australia: Stephanie Richards who works for InDaily.
Tasmania: Jillian Mundy – a freelance journalist and photographer who has contributed to the Koori Mail for 13 years.
Western Australia: Will announce its recipient at a mentoring event on August 28.
The Women in Media national conference will be held at Bond University on September 13-14, 2019. Tickets are available here.
